MULTAN: A man killed his two-and-a-half-year-old stepson for bed-wetting and injured his wife and stepdaughter when they tried to save the infant at Farooqpura here on Tuesday.
Ali Hamza was sleeping beside his stepfather Muhammad Asif when he urinated and wetted latter’s clothes. At this, Asif flied into a temper, threw Hamza on the ground forcefully and thrashed him with fists. He also injured his wife and daughter when they tried to stop him from beating the infant. On hue and cry of the injured, locals gathered there and tried to intervene in the matter, but the accused tortured infant to death.
After getting information, the Qutabpur police reached the spot and arrested the accused. The police said that the accused was an addict and had been seeking an opportunity to get rid of his stepson and stepdaughter. They added that Tabinda had contracted second marriage with Asif and had a son and a daughter from her first marriage. They said that Asif used to torture his wife for money. They added that the body had been shifted to hospital for autopsy, while a case had been registered against the culprit.
POWER SHUTDOWN DECRIED: The All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran has protested against unscheduled power shutdown, demanding an immediate end to it.
APAT central chairman Khawaja Suleman Siddiqui said that they would be forced to come on roads if the authorities did not stop unscheduled power shutdown and detection bills. He demanded that the Mepco should announce a schedule before observing shutdown.
