FBR alerts officials to foil currency smuggling at Benazir Bhutto Airport

ISLAMABAD: The FBR’s customs authorities have received credible information that attempts would be made for currency smuggling through Benazir Bhutto International Airport in coming days so the relevant staff was instructed to remain vigilant to foil such attempts.

According to official office order issued by the Customs Authorities stating that it was learnt through credible sources that attempts of currency smuggling shall be made in next few days through Benazir Bhutto International Airport so instructions were issued to foil such attempts.

All flights destined to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, China & Bangkok may invariably be rummaged by Vigilance Staff. At Rawai Lounge International Departure side, one inspector may remain there to oversee the scanners and carry out body search and personal baggage search.

For this exercise help of lady searcher may be sought as and when required. Vigilance Wing may also make their presence felt at the waiting area of International Departure Hall, washrooms and cafeterias to detect any suspicious activities carried out.

The body search of members of other agencies may be undertaken on random basis. Food trolleys & stocks of shops located in departure area may also be examined to create deterrence against any probable attempt. Inspection of engineering and catering, services, entering through common gate, especially at the time of sensitive flights may be undertaken as previously ordered.Random examination of luggage passing through ASF scanners located at exit points on departure side may also be undertaken.
