Rawalpindi: A much-needed water supply scheme costing Rs17 million is nearing completion in Union Council (Mohri Ghazan) in Dhamyal that would greatly help resolve the issue of clean drinking water in the area.

According to Chairman, Water Supply Scheme, Dhamyal, Ghaffar Khan Bhatti, four tubewells have been set up at Adiala and now the work is underway to lay down 17 km long water pipeline to provide clean drinking water to various areas including Ashraf Colony, Liaquat Colony, Lala Rukh Colony (Phase II), Mehboob Colony, Aslam Colony, Bilal Colony, Khayaban Villas and Gulshan-e-Saeed (Phase I).

"The water supply scheme will resolve the issue of clean drinking water and provide a much-needed relief to hundreds of thousands of people who have been facing health threats due to contaminated water," he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had allocated the funds worth Rs170 million for the water supply scheme in Dhamyal in line with the pledges made during the election campaign.

Ghaffar Khan Bhatti said he is constantly monitoring the pace of work
on the water supply scheme and, hopefully, it would be inaugurated in near future as the work is underway on fast-track basis.
