ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday approved confirmation of two judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) besides recommending the appointment of one nominee as additional judge of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
A meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) was held here under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and participated by four senior judges of the Supreme Court, Attorney General of Pakistan, representatives of the bar and chief justices of the IHC and PHC.
Sources said that the commission approved confirmation of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb as judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC). The tenure of both was ending on December 23, 2016. The total strength of IHC judges is seven.
Sources further said that the commission also recommended Muhammad Ayub Marwat for appointment as additional judge of the Peshawar High Court. The Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel has withdrawn the four nominations including Muhammad Bashir, Advocate Umer Farooq, Advocate Muzammil Khan and Advocate Mian Hussain Ali.
