MANSEHRA: The nazims and naib nazims of village and neighbourhood councils have been deprived of monthly honourarium for the last five months.

“The second quarter of ongoing financial year is near completion but we are still deprived of our honourarium and other non-development budget,” Basharat Ali, the village nazim of Safada told reporters here on Monday.

He said that nazims and naib nazims of 194 villages and neighbourhood councils of Mansehra district were deprived of their monthly honourarium, rent of their offices, stationery and utility bill for the last five consecutive months.

“Owners of our rented offices have been threatening us to expel us of their buildings if we don’t pay them monthly-rent without any further delay,” said Basharat.

He said that nazims and naib nazims of village and neighbourhood councils were mulling launching protests if Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government didn’t release the non-development budget.

Meanwhile, the district president of Awami National Party in Torghar Shahzad
Shah on Monday announced to move the court if provincial government deducted 5
percent funds from Rs4 billion development package of district.

“My party had sanctioned a special development package of Rs4 billion after declaring Torghar a settled district in 2012.And now the PTI government imposed a cut of 5 percent, which we will never tolerate and move court against it,” Shah told reporters in Oghi.
