Vows to fight the case of Sindh in and outside parliament; wants across-the-board accountability
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan chief Senator Sirajul Haq has vowed to fight the case of Sindh in and outside parliament.
He expressed these views on Sunday while addressing the culminating sesson of the two-day historic JI Sindh workers convention, which was held at the Bagh-e-Jinnah in Karachi. Tens of thousands of JI workers from across the province participated in the convention.
Speaking on the occasion, Siraj said the Pakistani nation had been looted for the last 70 years. He added that while the man of this era had conquered other planets, people in Pakistan are even deprived of their basic rights and just opportunities for livelihood.
Siraj warned both the federal and the provincial governments to mend their ways. He asked the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) to reveal the basis of offshore assets of its leadership.
He said that a crystal clear probe into the Panamagate was the voice of Pakistan. The JI chief demanded across-the-board accountability, saying evidence in the PanamaLeaks case should be demanded from those who had looted the country.
The JI leader criticised the ruling regime for following their monetary benefits, instead of pursuing a collective goal of Pakistan's development and prosperity. Siraj said the JI had been pursuing the agenda of a peaceful, prosperous and Islamic Pakistan. He advised the masses to revert back to the way of living guided by Islam. He urged the people to read some verses of the Quran on daily basis so as to have guidance directly from the holy book.
He said that the JI was not an ordinary political party but a revolutionary movement, struggling for a peaceful Islamic revolution. He talked about social issues of the Pakistani society. He urged the masses to be connected to the basic teachings of Islam so as to live a peaceful life.
Talking about Karachi, he said it was a role model city, leading the country in terms of revenue, acadmics, industry and intellect. He continued that the incapable leadership of the city and the country had ruined Karachi. He stressed the need for restoring the basic facilities in Karachi as well as in Sindh so as to initiate a saga of peace, prosperity and development.
The JI leader held corruption in Islamabad, Hyderabad and Karachi responsible for the dismal situation of Sindh. He strongly criticised the provincial government for making shoddy legislations against the teachings of Islam as well as the Constitution of the country.
He expressed his disappointment that the party of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was mulling to breach the Constitution, bestowed by its founder. He said JI is determined to fight for the rights of labourers and other oppressed segments of Sindh. He also advised the people to discharge their due responsibilities with honesty.
JI Sindh Ameer Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui said that Sindh was pushed against the wall and the city known as the economic nerve centre and the city of lights had been facing darkness since long. He vowed that the JI would not only bring back the lights of Karachi but would also bestow the province with its lost glory.
He said that the JI would not leave the people of Karachi alone and would fight for the rights of Karachi and would struggle for the progress and development of the Sindh province. He added that if provided with power, his party would ensure 100 percent literacy rate in Sindh. He said the budget for education would be raised to 10 percent. He also announced that 1,000 scholarships would be made avalible each year if the JI gained power in Sindh.
Talking about women, he said that each and every girl of the province would be empowered and made literate. Citing the example of Naimatullah Khan, he said that colleges would be establised in each and every sub-district of the province.
If they made government in Sindh, he also promised to bring about reforms in the agriculture sector. He pledged to provide farmers with interest free loans and an end to the interest system in the agriculture sector. He added that the Thar region would be made green in the first five years of the JI rule in the province.
Earlier, JI Karachi chief Engineer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman addressed the final session of the convention. In his address, he talked about the political vaccum being faced by Karachi and Sindh. He said the future of Sindh, particularly Karachi, was associated with Islam and an Islamic revolution. He strictly criticised the federal and provincial governments for usurping the rights of the people of Karachi.
