Five IS fighters killed in Afghanistan
PESHAWAR: Five Islamic State (IS) fighters, including two Pakistanis, were killed in a clash with Afghan security forces in the Pacheeragam district of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday.
“The Afghan combined forces conducted operation in different villages of Pass Pacheer area in Pacheeragam district, yesterday and cleared three villages of the IS fighters,” Hazrat Hussain Mashriqwal, spokesman for Nangarhar police, told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
The security forces also recovered two civilians seized by the IS fighters a month ago, he said, adding two Pakistanis among five IS fighters were killed and four others wounded during the operation.
There was no word by the militant group in this regard. The IS captured several villages in the Pacheeragam district few months ago, forcing the government forces to launch operation.
