Lyallpur Eye Trust established for blind people

FAISALABAD: The district administration has established the Lyallpur Eye Trust for introducing the system of receiving donations of eye cornea and its transplantation for giving sight to the blind people.
In this connection, a meeting of the Lyallpur Eye Trust was held in the chair of its chairman/DCO Salman Ghani here on Friday. The meeting was attended by EDO Finance Mehr Ramzan, DO Health Dr Asif Shahzad, local industrialists and philanthropists Shah Nawazul Hassan, Farrukh Zaman, Mian Ajmal Farooq and Muhammad Ramzan. Lyallpur Eye Trust vice-chairman/head of Eye Department of Allied Hospital Prof Dr Muhammad Sultan briefed about the required medical resources for receiving the donations of eye cornea and its transplantation. He said that an eye bank would be established for this purpose to run it successful. Lyallpur Eye Trust secretary Mian Kamal informed about the registration of Lyallpur Eye Trust and establishment of the eye bank. The DCO appreciated the deep interest and sentiments of local industrialists and philanthropists and said that providing sight to the blind persons was a noble deed for which Lyallpur Eye Trust and eye bank would be made more strengthened for providing durable services in this field. He said that financial cooperation of the trustees and other philanthropists was imperative to promote medical system of eye cornea transplantation. He said that an awareness campaign would also be launched for providing information to the general public in connection with the giving eye cornea donations. During the meeting, the trustees assured their full cooperation for the establishment of the eye bank and said undoubtedly it would be revolutionary and exemplary welfare project for providing sight to the blind persons.
