LAHORE

Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said the plunderers of public wealth whose names appeared in Panama papers would soon flee the country, leaving behind the poor once again to pay off the foreign debts they had gulped down.

He was addressing a gathering of Pakistani lawyers and businessmen community in Toronto, said a message released by PAT media on Tuesday.

The PAT chief said State Bank of Pakistan had now confirmed what he had warned one year before that rulers were obtaining foreign loans with a greater speed and that they would flee leaving an unbearable burden on the poor of the country. He said the rulers had broken all previous records of taking foreign loans and now country was on the verge of bankruptcy.

Dr Tahirul Qadri said it was time the parliament came into action and took some strong measures to check the illegal inflow of foreign loans these rulers were taking and burdening the masses of Pakistan. He said these rulers had restricted their movement only to take loans and whiten their black money through different amnesty schemes. He said all the projects they had undertaken were just “Joy land” projects and all had been constructed by taking foreign loans. He said the people of the country would once again be left to pay back these loans.
