Battle-hardened army ever ready for conventional war: COAS
RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan Army proudly carries its heritage and tradition of soldiering and chivalry.
He was interacting with troops during his visit to the Sulemanki Sector on Saturday. He spent his day with the Army, Rangers troops and war veterans of the sector.
The COAS said that taking inspiration from our war heroes and their spirit of sacrifice, the Pakistan Army has always measured up to any challenge. With an unprecedented level of successes in the war against terror, we have become the most battle hardened army and are equally ready for a conventional war. He specially appreciated the highest state of morale of the troops and the best form of vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC), the Working Boundary and the international border.
The army chief laid a wreath at the monument of Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed. He paid rich tributes to Shuhada and Ghazis for fighting bravely and rendering supreme sacrifices in the defence of the motherland.
Earlier, on arrival at Sulemanki, the COAS was received by Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali, Lt-Gen Javaid Iqbal Commander Bahawalpur Corps and Director General Punjab Rangers Major General Umer Farooq Burki.
