LAHORE
Punjab Halal Development Agency (PHDA) has published a 250 pages book containing the Shariah status of Electronic Codes or International Numbering System (INS) whether they are Halal, Haram or doubtful of different edibles printed on the packing or wrapper of a product.
For reference, E Codes or INS is the three code numbers traceability system printed on the label instead of ingredient names due to shortage of space.
The system is developed and implemented by European Union accepted worldwide. To analyse the E-codes, PHDA had constituted a committee comprising Dr Vinai from Thailand, Abdulrehman Youseri from Malaysia, Justice Khalil and Dr Faqir Muhammad from Pakistan and Shariah experts from Indonesia.
