KOHAT: The traders and shopkeepers on Saturday shut down the bazaar and stage a sit-in after a clash between the security guards of an assistant commissioner and shopkeepers during the anti-encroachment drive. It was learnt that a shopkeeper and the security guards of the Assistant Commissioner Kohat, Ali Asghar, exchanged harsh words after demolishing encroachment in front of a shop that triggered physical fight among the security guards and shopkeepers. The police later arrested several shopkeepers. Following the incident, the traders and shopkeepers shut down the markets as a mark of protest and staged a sit-in and later besieged the City Police Station. They demanded immediate release of the arrested shopkeepers and traders and transfer of the assistant commissioner. Meanwhile, the district administration demolished encroachments in front of over 400 shops during the ongoing anti-encroachment derive in the district.
