Indian Army chief takes stock of Indo-Pak border situation
LAHORE: Indian Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag will visit Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, the headquarters of Northern Command, to take stock of operational preparedness along the border in the wake of heightened tension in Indo-Pak ties, Indian media reported.
The visit comes a day after Pakistan said that the Indian army killed seven of its soldiers in shelling. Army sources said Gen Suhag, who left the national capital in the morning, will be briefed in detail about the situation by Northern Command Chief Lt Gen D S Hooda and other top commanders.
The firing at the LoC has intensified ever since the so-called surgical strike of September 29. Both sides have used artillery guns in the recent past, officially the first time since the ceasefire was announced in 2003.
