An advocate has filed a petition before the Lahore High Court seeking direction for the federal government to extend service tenure of the army chief.
Advocate Ghazi Ilamuddin who also heads a party, Tehreek-i-Inqilab, filed the petition claiming that the whole nation wanted General Raheel Sharif to continue to lead the army. He stated that Pakistan had accomplished many tasks against terrorism under the leadership of General Raheel Sharif.
The lawyer said army chiefs had been given extension in past. Therefore, he pleaded, that the government be directed to give an extension to General Raheel Sharif in the largest interest of the country.
