Four arrested for illegal business

FIA on Thursday arrested four accused of illegal business of Hundi/Hawala and money exchange on Abbot Road.

According to FIA officials, FIA raided the second floor of a plaza on Abbot Road and arrested accused M Akram, Akbar Jan, Asim and Hamza who were found involved in illegal business of Hundi/Hawala and currency exchange. 

The raiding team also seized a huge amount of money, receipts and registers on the spot. An FIR has been registered against the accused.

profiteers: Price Control Magistrates of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) arrested 92 profiteers on Thursday.

Officials said the magistrates raided 880 shops and challaned 51 shopkeepers besides imposing fine of Rs 30,200. Criminal cases were also registered against 51 shopkeepers while 17 were sent to jail directly from the spot.

The DCO has directed the magistrates to continue the drive against profiteers and take stern action against those involved in overcharging. He said he would monitor the daily performance of price control magistrates.

The DCO also directed the all town administrators to start checking marriage functions being held in their jurisdictions and ensure implementation of one-dish menu. He said zero-tolerance policy should be adopted in this regard and no one should be spared in case of violation of the marriage laws.
