PIA thrash Punjab in hockey tourney

KARACHI: PIA recorded a convincing 8-0 triumph against Punjab in National Hockey championship on Friday at Sialkot Hockey Stadium in Sialkot.
Mohammad Irfan scored twice, while Kashif Ali, Azfar Yaqoob, Nohaiz Malik, Rana Sohail, Shafqat Rasool and Ammad Butt scored one goal each.
In another match, Army overcame SSGC 2-1. Hammad Zafar and captain Mohammad Imran scored one goal each for Army, while SSGC’s seasoned skipper Shakeel Abbasi scored one.
In the match between NBP and Customs, the former were awarded a 5-2 triumph. It was found out that umpire Rana Sajid Ali had given wrong decisions and Tournament Director Anjum Saeed banned him for one match. He also issued warning to the Tournament Officer Hassan Askari.
