PESHAWAR: Three recently confirmed judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) took oath of their office as permanent judges on Tuesday.
PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel administered oath to the three judges. They included Justice Muhammad Younas Thaheem, Justice Qalandar Ali Khan and Justice Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan.
Additional Registrar Muhammad Tariq Khan read out the notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice Division on November 3 about the confirmation of the judges.
PHC judges, law officers from the office of the deputy attorney general and Advocate General Office, office-bearers of the PHC Bar Association, including its president Muzammil Khan and a number of lawyers attended the oath-taking ceremony.
The Supreme Judicial Council this time confirmed three judges as permanent judges of PHC and dropped a judge Haider Ali in the confirmation process. Justice Muhammad Younas Thaheem belongs to Dera Ismail Khan. He was elevated to the bench as additional judge on November 10, 2014.Justice Qalandar Ali Khan and Justice Ghazanfar Khan were also elevated to the bench as additional judges on November 10, 2014.
