30 booked for injuring three cops

OKARA: Depalpur Sadr police on Monday registered a case against 30 people, including 15 nominated, on the charges of illegally using loudspeaker and injuring three policemen.
The police, on a tip-off, raided Pakhiyan where some men were dancing and creating nuisance for the people by listening songs on a high pitch. When the police admonished them, they allegedly attacked and injured Constables Maqsood and Muhammad Sarfraz and PQR Muqadas Bahar. The police have registered a case under Sections 353, 186, 148 and 149 of the PPC and Section 6 of the Punjab Sound System Ordinance 2000 against Shahbaz, Imdad, Sajid, Lala alias Nazir, Shafi Muhammad, Kalay Khan, Imran, Razzaq, Ibrar, Amjad Ali, Jamshed, Mehboob, Riasat Ali, Iqbal, Rang Ali Imran and others.
Two criminals killed in police encounter

OKARA: Two criminals were killed in an encounter with Depalpur City police here on Sunday night.
The police were carrying two criminals - Akram alias Akri of Ajja Bhutta village and Munsaf Ali of Depalpur - for recovery in a case No 918/16 registered under Sections 392 and 376 of the PPC. Near Bahripur village, four people opened fire on the police and got the two criminals released from the custody. The accused also took away two police rifles. To it, the police started chasing them and asked for reinforcement from the police station, which reached in no time. The police intercepted the criminals near Depalpur-Haveli Road. Seeing the police, the criminals opened fire on them. The police also retaliated. As a result, criminals Akram and Munsaf were killed on the spot while their four accomplices managed to escape. However, the police claimed that the criminals were killed by the firing of their accomplices. Meanwhile, the bodies of both criminals were shifted to the Okara DHQ Hospital where autopsy was conducted. After the autopsy, the bodies were handed over to their families for burial.
