MULTAN: Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya shrine Sajjada Nasheen and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf senior vice-chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi does not rule out the possibility of working relationship with the Pakistan People’s Party, saying that both parties have common points of struggle on corruption and strengthening democracy.
Addressing the second day of 777th Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya and journalists here on Monday, he welcomed PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s statement about the joint struggle and said that working relationship with the PPP was possible. He said that some miscreants were hatching a conspiracy to divide Jamaat Ghausia by highlighting a quarrel between him and his brother but all conspiracies would be foiled. Shah Mehmood Qureshi claimed that the Urs was also celebrated in the Indian state of Rajasthan like Pakistan. He said that the Muslims were being victimised across the globe under a planned conspiracy. He said: “The US presidential candidates are talking about banning the entry of the Muslims in their country. The Muslims are being targeted in India Held Kashmir, Iraq, Palestine and other countries.”
Earlier, a minor scuffle took place between Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his younger brother Murid Hussain Qureshi on the first day of the Urs when Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi was laying a Chadar on the shrine. Later, both the brothers held separate Urs ceremonies.
The City District Government has announced a local holiday on the third day of the Urs on Tuesday (today). The district administration has made strict security arrangements while all the government departments have set up their camps at Qila Qasim Bagh to facilitate the devotees. The Urs will conclude on November 8.
