First pro kabaddi league in March next year

KARACHI: The first professional kabaddi league will be held in March in Lahore, a senior official of Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) said on Monday.

“We have decided to hold it in March. Everything has been finalised and the complete schedule of the competitions will be released soon,” PKF secretary Mohammad Sarwar told ‘The News’.

He said that in the first edition no foreign player would feature. “It will solely be for the home players who will also be given good incentives. In the second edition, we will also try to include foreign players,” Sarwar added.

He said that the timeframe of the tournament would be 17 days and the outfits would fight under double league system.

He added that around Rs40million would be spent on the first edition and the competitions would be of circle style kabaddi.
