Former Federal Minister Syeda Abida Hussain Friday said Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf was responsible for the Kargil Operation.
Talking to reporters during the launch of her book, ‘Nakami-e-Iqtidar’ at Alhamra Arts Council, she said Musharraf had also suggested former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto the Kargil Operation but she refused as it could trigger an Indo-Pak war.
Abida said Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif should have taken Musharraf along to the USA so that the Americans could also ‘treat’ him. To a query about military courts, Abida said if normal courts were delivering then there was no need of such courts, adding that when the political leadership had decided to back military courts, they should not withdraw it now. She suggested tackling ‘Mullaism’ to eliminate sectarianism. About her biography, Abida said it covered all aspects of her 45-year-long political life and it would benefit the new generation.
