LAHORE

Protest demonstrations and meetings were held by different religious organisations on Friday as they observed the Defence of Harmain Sharifain Day to condemn last week’s missile attack attempt on Holy Makkah, and to highlight the conspiracies of targeting Muslim holy places in Saudi Arabia.

They warned that any attempt of attacking Makkah and Madina would be considered an attack on entire Muslim world, urging the Muslim rulers to take serious notice of the conspiracies and chalk out a joint strategy to frustrate the enemies of Islam in this sinister plan. Addressing different meetings, conferences, demonstrations and Friday sermons, Islamic scholars and leaders warned that enemies of Islam who had been creating divisions among the Muslim ranks on the basis of creed, caste and colour, had now stepped up their conspiracies by directly targeting the heart of Muslims love in order to multiply the already raging unrest among the Muslim world.

Addressing a conference titled “Tahaffuz Harmain Sharifain Conference” under the aegis of Majlis Ulema Pakistan (MUP), the speakers urged upon the Muslim governments to join hands against those elements conspiring to target Muslim Holy places in Saudi Arabia.

The conference was presided over by chief Khateeb of Badshahi masjid Dr Abdul Khabeer Azad while the chief guest was the noted scholar from Madina, Dr Saeed Inayatullah. Other speakers included Mufti Mubashir Ahmad, Pir Usman Noori, Maulana Shakilur Rehman Nasir, Mufti Saifullah Khalid, Abdul Sattar Niazi, Abdul Baseer Azad, Bilal Ahmad Mir and others.

Dr Saeed Inayatullah said defence of Makkah and Madina was the responsibility of every Muslim and said every child of the Muslim world was ready to discharge this duty with his heart and soul. He said Houthi rebels of Yemen had proved their enmity against Islam by making this daring attack on Makkah, but it had made it clear upon the whole world that they had nothing to do with Islam.

Dr Abdul Khabeer Azad said defence of Harmain was part of Muslims’ faith and no Muslim could even think of ignoring this noble duty.

Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) staged a demonstration on Canal road after Friday prayers where addressing the charged workers, the speakers warned that the attack on Makkah proved that the real target of enemies were now the Muslim holy places. The demonstration was led by PUC head Allama Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi.

Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said it was the duty of all Muslim rulers to chalk out a joint strategy against Houthi rebels and ISIS and assured the Saudi Arabia that entire Pakistani nation was standing behind the holy land for its protection.

Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Idrees while delivering Friday sermon at Mansoora masjid demanded that all Muslim rulers should set up a joint army for the defence of Muslim holy places, Makkah and Madina.
