Court summons secretary agriculture,
others in transfer case

MULTAN: Punjab Labour Court No-9 Judge Muhammad Aslam Pervez on Thursday summoned the Punjab Agriculture secretary and other officers on November 27 in a case of transferring of union activists. The court suspended transfer of union activist Ghazi Ahmad Hassan Khokhar and sought appearance of the officers on November 27.
The court summoned Agriculture Secretary Capt (retd) Muhammad Mehmood, Punjab Director General Field Dr Qurban Ali, and Multan Director Agriculture Engineering Chaudhry Muhammad Ayub and other officials for transferring a union activist from Multan to Attock on taking part in labour activities and raising voices for workers rights.
Earlier, petitioner Ghazi Ahmad Hassan Khokhar told court that officials have turned against him because he was struggling for workers rights and exposing corruption and irregularities of agriculture officials.
He said the officials misguided the secretary in a meeting held at Faisalabad Ayub Agriculture Research Institute and he was transferred from Multan to Attock.
NIRC MULTAN BENCH ORDERED: National Industrial Relation Commission chairman justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan Thursday ordered establishment of NIRC bench at Multan and transfer to it all cases of southern Punjab which are under trial at Lahore NIRC bench.
The Multan NIRC bench would trial labour cases of Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions.
Talking to reporters, All Pakistan Federation of Mazdoor Unions secretary general Ashfaq Ahmed Khan said the NIRC is established under the Industrial Relation Act 2012.
He said the NIRC Multan bench was established due to Supreme Court Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali’s policy of free justice to all.
He said the south Punjab workers demand of establishment of NIC bench in Multan is entertained after four years of the promulgation of IRA 2012.
Referring his meeting with NIRC chairman Justice Shakirullah Jan, he said he is invited to visit Multan and he promised soon he will visit Multan. Ashfaq Ahmed Khan demanded the NIRC chairman for creation of full bench for trial of south Punjab cases pending for years.
