CHARSADDA: Inspector General of Police Nasir Durrani said on Thursday the establishment of a model police station in the province reflected the real change in thinking, behaviour and priorities of the police.

The inspector general of police (IGP) said this in his address on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of Model Police Station Sardheri here. Elected representatives, including MNA Maulana Syed Gohar Shah, District Nazim Fahad Riaz, elite of the area, and high ranking civil and police officers attended the function.

The IGP pointed out that establishment of Model Police Station was the need of the hour. He said such a facility had been established to restore the dignity of the common men and give them honour and respect while seeking solution to their problems at “Thana” level.

“Majority of the police stations in the province are in dilapidated condition and 50 per cent police stations had been established in rented buildings. With the establishment of the Model Police Station, the common men would find friendly environment for solution of their confronting problems,” he added.

Nasir Durrani said the staff of the Model Police Station had been imparted basic necessary training to deal with and help the complainants. Earlier, the IGP inaugurated the newly established office of the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) at the City Police Station in Charsadda.
