Minister briefed about Wapda projects
LAHORE
Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Abdul Qadir Baloch Thursday visited Wapda House and had a meeting with Wapda Chairman Muzammil Hussain to discuss matters relating to projects, which are being constructed by Wapda in Balochistan.
During the meeting, the federal minister was apprised about the progress on Wapda projects in Balochistan including Kachhi Canal.
The chairman said Kachhi Canal is the priority project for Wapda, being a vital development scheme for socio-economic uplift of the far-flung areas in Balochistan. In view of the significance of Kachhi Canal for Balochistan, Wapda is making utmost efforts to complete the project in the shortest possible time. The work on a component of the project (KC-4) is not satisfactory, hence, ran into cost and time overrun. Measures are afoot to restart the work on it also, he said. The federal minister appreciated the pace of work on various ongoing projects.
Convocation: The 50th convocation of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is going to be organised at a local hotel on Friday (today).
According to a press release issued on Thursday, a total of 711 doctors will be awarded with 608 fellowship (FCPS) degrees and 92 doctors with membership (MCPS) degrees.
In this convocation, six doctors will also be awarded with gold medals over their tremendous performance in the field. A large number of senior professors, supervisors and fellows will attend this convocation.

He said that the participants of the Ijtima were being registered through biometric machines.
Walk-through gates, metal detectors, barriers, barbed wires and sniffing dogs are being used for security purpose.
He said the people would be allowed to enter the venue after being frisked. Two SPs, six DSPs, 21 inspectors and 3,000 cops are performing security duties in this regard, he added.
LDA: One Window Cell of Lahore Development Authority will remain closed for public dealing for two days, today and tomorrow.
The LDA officials said public has been advised not to come to the One Window Cell during these days to avoid inconvenience.
However, the routine functioning of the cell will restore from Monday. All the directorates concerned have been directed to maintain their record during the closer of One Window Cell, officials concluded.
