OKARA: Two people were murdered in as many incidents here.
In the first incident, Zakir Hussain and his wife Nasreen Bibi were going to Chak 2/1AL when the highwaymen intercepted and tried to snatch the motorcycle from them but Zakir Hussain resisted. It infuriated the highwaymen and they opened indiscriminate firing. As a result, Zakir was killed on the spot while his wife Nasreen Bibi was injured seriously. The injured woman was shifted to a local hospital. Renala Sadr police have registered a case.
In the second incident, a man with his accomplices strangled his mother-in-law at Mauza Tatar. Akbar, a criminal, was released from a jail two days ago. On Wednesday night, Akbar with his accomplices Asghar and Rauf came to the house of his in-laws and asked about his wife. Akbar’s mother-in-law Sharifan Bibi told him she had gone to their relatives. It infuriated Akbar and he along with his accomplices allegedly strangled his mother-in-law Sharifan. Chuchak police have registered a case.
SECURITY OF CAMPUSES: DCO Qaisar Saleem has said that security measures as instructed by the Punjab government would be fully observed in all public and private educational institutions across the district.
Chairing a meeting of the heads of educational institutions here, he asked the institutions having more than 500 students to make especial security arrangements. He also asked them not to hire any Afghan national as a guard.
Meanwhile, chairing a meeting of the District Peace Committee, the DCO said that Ulema along with the district administration would supervise processions of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) across the district.
