Seminar on background of political conflicts

LAHORE
Punjab University’s Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) organised a seminar on “Cultural Background of Political Conflicts in South Asia” in its auditorium on Thursday.
According to a press release, Dr Pitor Balcerowicz, a professor at University of Warsaw, Poland, was the keynote speaker at the event while CSAS Director Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members, MPhil/PhD scholars from CSAS and Department of Political Science were also present.
Dr Pitor Balcerowicz said the ideas of equality, people as a source of law and ethnic identity emerged after the French revolution. However, ethnic identity required sovereignty that became cause of conflict in South Asia.
