GUJRANWALA: Two constables and their brothers injured five of a family to occupy their plot at Uppal Jagir Village on Thursday.
Constables Shaukat Hameed and Zubair and their brothers Hafeez and Hamid entered the house of their relative Abdul Ghafoor by scaling the boundary wall and injured his wife Amna, son Ashraf, Wazir Bibi, Sharif and Saleem with clubs. The injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital for treatment. Amna alleged that the police was backing the accused. She appealed to the chief minister to order action against the accused who wanted to grab their 12-marla plot. The Ferozewala police are investigating.
DEMO AGAINST SHO: Relatives of an accused staged a demonstration against the Sabzi Mandi SHO for registering a case against him at the behest of a land grabber.
Relatives of Muhammad Saleem, a resident of Salamatpura, gathered outside City SP Office and chanted slogans against the Sabzi Mandi SHO. They alleged that the notorious land grabber Hamid Mehr wanted to snatch their two and a half marla house. They said that the SHO had arrested Saleem without any investigations. The City listened to the protesters and later summoned the Sabzi Mandi SHO. He assured the protesters of justice. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
PRISONER DIES: A prisoner died in Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
Nisar, son of Feroze and a resident of Chak Bilal village, was facing the charge of drug pushing. He was taken to DHQ Hospital and later referred to Mayo Hospital where he died. The jail authorities have handed over the body to the bereaved family for burial.
PO HELD: The FIA claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender in a fraud case from Narowal. The FIA team led by Inspector Shahid Pervaiz arrested Kalb-e-Abbas, a HBL cahier, who was accused of embezzling Rs 4.2 million.
