SUKKUR: The watch towers, the boundary wall and the runway of the airport here was under the threat of water logging due to the cultivation of the paddy crop in the fields adjacent to the airport.
This was communicated to the Commissioner of Sukkur, Muhammad Abbas Baloch, here on Tuesday by an official of the ASF at a meeting on the law and order situation. The ASF official proposed a ban on the cultivation of paddy in the land adjacent to the airport.
The commissioner ordered the DC concerned to impose a ban on the cultivation of paddy in the area in question. Meanwhile, the commissioner during the meeting urged the SSPs to ensure security measures in their respective districts to maintain the law and order situation.
He directed them to prepare lists of the sellers of fireworks and provide those lists to the deputy commissioners. The commissioner also directed the SSPs to review security plan for the Imambargahs, schools, airport, multinational companies, courts and other sensitive places.
