Maryam Aurangzeb to take oath as State Minister for Information today

ISLAMABAD: Maryam Aurangzeb has been nominated as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and she is expected to take oath on Tuesday.

Talking to APP on Monday, Maryam Aurangzeb said that she would utilise her potential to perform the new responsibility assigned to her with utmost dedication and in a befitting manner.

She said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had reposed confidence in her, and she would do her best to come up to his expectations.

Maryam said that the portfolio of information minister was a very important responsibility. She said she was expected to take oath on Tuesday after which she would formally start discharging her responsibility.

The minister designate said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had formulated many policies for the welfare of people and uplift of the country. The government had already completed a number of development projects, she said and added the pro-people and development-oriented policies would continue in future.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif in a tweetmessage congratulated Maryam Aurangzeb and said that she was one of the most dynamic and diligent team members of the PML-N. Maryam Aurangzeb has served as PML-N Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since 2013. She did her graduation from the Federal Government College, Islamabad, MSc Economics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and MSc Environment and Development from King’s College London and was elected Member of the National Assembly on a reserved seat for women.

She is the Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Interior andNarcotics Control. She is also heading the National Parliamentary Taskforce on Millennium Development Goals.

Maryam is also a member of Standing Committee on Climate Change, member of Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage and Chief Organiser of Youth Women Wing, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi.

She specialises in strategic thinking and planning anddevelopment for environmental conservation, development andinternational agreements and Millennium Development Goals’implementation.
