Nadra officials deny involvement in fake CNICs issuance
PESHAWAR: Four National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) officials on Monday clarified that there was no case by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against them for issuing Pakistani computerised national identity cards (CNICs) to Afghan nationals.
The Nadra officials, including Azizuddin, Khalid Jan, Bakhtiar Hussain Afridi and Shahid told The News that there was no case against them. They said they had been wrongly quoted by the lawyer, Noor Alam Khan, who had filed the case for other officials of the Nadra in the Peshawar High Court.
“We have been performing our duties honestly since our appointment. We were shocked to learn about our names in the list of those officers who were allegedly charged by the FIA for issuing CNICs to Afghan nationals,” Bakhtiar Hussain Afridi said.
Similarly, all the other three officers said they even did not know about the cases and were wrongly quoted in the petition by the lawyer. It is pertinent to mention that The News ran a news story on Monday about the issuance of fake CNICs and the names of the four officers were also mentioned by the lawyer in the case that compelled the officers to clarify their positions.
