Patients suffer as YDA strike continues
LAHORE
Mayo Hospital chapter of Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, continued strike on fourth consecutive day Monday.
The patients suffered the brunt of strike as young doctors had withdrawn their services from Out-Patient Department (OPD), indoor wards and Operation Theatres (OTs). The supporters of YDA’s group led by Dr Shehryar Niazi also held a rally from Ghari Ward of Mayo Hospital to GPO Chowk to express their solidarity with the doctors, nurses and paramedics, who were punished as a result of recommendation of an inquiry report into an incident of torture of a patient and his brother on October 15, 2016.
The nurses and paramedics also joined the protest rally. They demanded the health department to withdraw its decision of terminations and reinstate doctors, nurses and paramedics.
