In the wake of a crackdown on supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad, senior politician Nabil Gabol urged all opposition parties to support the PTI’s November 2 rally, while also announcing to attend the protest wherever it would be held.
According to the former parliamentarian’s official twitter account, he had decided to join the PTI’s sit-in and would be standing with Imran Khan come November 2.
Addressing media personnel at his residence, on Sunday, Gabol referred to the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government as incumbent, and called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down before the commencement of PTI’s protest.
He further warned the government that it would be held responsible for any untoward incident that would occur in response to any tactics implied by the government to thwart the protest.
Equalling the PTI’s protest to a measure taken to strengthen Pakistan, Gabol said the political forces needed to decide whether they would stand with the prime minister or the country.
The parliamentarian further referred to the PML-N as being on a ventilator taking its last breaths, adding, that the ruling party’s leaders were worsening the political situation of the country.
Gabol further blamed the government of, “hatching conspiracies against the stability and sovereignty of the country inside the Prime Minister (PM) House.”
He further held the government responsible for the deaths of a Lieutenant Colonel and a three-day old, who died in separate incidents owing to blockades put in place in various areas to stop PTI supporters from getting to the November 2 rally’s venue.
“The PM has engaged the Establishment in the deteriorating situation at the LoC. The premier was in deal with the Indian PM and international powers because of which he should be tried under Article VI of the constitution,” he insisted.
He blamed the negligence and slow response of the election commission and the judiciary of resulting in the masses and the PTI’s disappointment, which was why they wanted both the institutions to play an active role in the prevailing circumstances.
