Says removal of Pervaiz Rashid no punishment
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said the resignation of Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed is a matter of great concern and indicated there are some highly irresponsible people sitting in key offices in the government due to whom even sensitive national issues are at stake.
Commenting on the resignation on Saturday, Sirajul Haq said mere removing Pervez Rashid from the ministry was no punishment for such serious charges and proper action against him must be taken under the law, besides the government should go for thorough self-accountability. “This indicates that someone in the government can go to any extent to fulfil enemy’s designs anytime,” he remarked.
He said those named in the Panama Leaks and corruption, belonging to the opposition and the government, were eating away the country’s resources like white elephant and it was time to drive them out of power.
He expressed the hope that the government would take the nation into confidence on the news leaks issue and ensure action under the law.
Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq expressed sorrow over the killing of five people in a firing incident at a Majlis in Karachi on Saturday evening. He said the enemy wanted to plunge the country into a sectarian strife.
He called upon the Sindh government to trace the culprits and hand them down deterrent punishment. He also expressed sympathies for the families of the victims.
