Pakistan is an Islamic state but the Islamic content included in the curriculum of schools is unsatisfactory. This has taken children away from religious values. Some schools teach the Quran at the primary level but not at the secondary level.
Post the 9/11 attacks, suspicions have been raised over the hatred and intolerance spread in madressahs. Madressahs used to be a place to gain knowledge but unfortunately the rise of Islamphobia has tarnished the image of a religious institution. To tackle this crisis of education, the government should supervise the curriculum of schools. There should be a proper course outline for madressahs as well. They need to be reformed with the addition of modern learning skills and scientific education.
