MINGORA: Training was arranged for the local journalists in Swat that they could to cope with situation while reporting in the conflict zone.
The training was organised by the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI).
The participants were informed about the latest techniques and safety measures adopted worldwide by journalists and media organisations.
Shamsul Hadi, provincial coordinator of the organisation, said that journalism has become a dangerous and challenging profession in recent years.
“Unfortunately, journalists are working in a very challenging environment in the country, particularly those reporting in the conflict-zones, are exposed to threats and violence,” he added.
He said that several journalists have been killed in country over the past decade.
Master-trainer Ghayyas Marwat said that it was the need of the hour to provide journalists with skills to make themselves safer in the field.
The participants were informed that research studies had found Pakistan among the most dangerous countries for journalists in the world.
The participants appreciated the efforts of the CPDI and reiterated that they would use the techniques they were imparted in training session.
