From Our Correspondent
FAISALABAD: Comprehensive and coordinated industrial development is imperative to fully exploit the opportunities brewing up in the wake of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), said Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Saeed Sheikh.
He was addressing a consultative workshop organised on ‘Industrial Policy and Census’ by the Industries, Commerce and Investment Department of the Punjab government. The FCCI president said that the CPEC would be the game changer mega infrastructure project in the region. He said that the government should immediately remove all hurdles hampering industrial development in Punjab by promoting pro-industrial culture. He lamented that electricity and gas tariff were highest for industries in Pakistan as compared to our neighboring and regional countries. He urged upon the government to adopt industrial-friendly policy. Saeed Sheikh said that various departments were actually working to create problems for the industrial sector instead of facilitating them. He demanded immediate repair of basic infrastructure in all industries areas. He also condemned the action of sealing industrial units on finding dengue larva and said that the government departments should avoid from such harsh steps, which were discouraging industrialists to setup new units.
