Dr Asim Hussain had stroke on Friday, claims family
KARACHI: The family of Dr. Asim Hussain on Friday claimed that he had a stroke at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) and his condition was not well. On the other hand, the JPMC administration said medical tests, including MRI and CT scans of the patient, were being conducted under the supervision of senior professors of the hospital.
A spokesman for the family of Dr Asim Hussain claimed that Dr. Hussain had a stroke on Friday at the JPMC where he is under treatment for depression and backache while in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
He claimed that mental stress and prolonged confinement of Dr Asim resulted in the stroke and added that he was being grilled for the crimes that he had not committed. On the other hand, the JPMC administration neither denied nor confirmed that Dr Hussain had a stroke, saying his MRI and CT scans were being conducted under the supervision of senior professors and after examining the report, they would be able to give their opinion on his health.
Deputy Director JPMC Dr Javed Jamali said all possible health facilities were being provided to the patient and added top health experts of the country were monitoring his condition round the clock.
Meanwhile, the Bilawal House, considered as the base of political activities of the ruling Pakistan People's Party, has expressed serious concern over the current health status of incarcerated former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain belonging to the previous PPP-led federal government.
A statement issued here by the media cell of Bilawal House on Friday expressed serious concern over the health status of former federal minister belonging to PPP, Dr Asim Hussain, who has been imprisoned for the last 15 months, after reports said that he came under a paralysis attack.
The statement said that doctors, who were treating Dr Asim after conducting the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) on the ailing former federal minister, reported that he (Dr Asim Hussain) was attacked by paralysis due to serious depression he had been facing.
It said that no allegation levelled against Dr Asim could be proven so far in the court of law in the last 15 months. Despite this, undue imprisonment of Dr Asim continued during which he was being subjected to mental torture. On the one side, the health status of Dr Asim has been alarming while on the other side, his wife has been suffering from cancer and was under treatment in London. It is also an injustice against him (Dr Asim) that his bail application is also not being heard.
The Bilawal House media cell’s statement said that a respectable citizen should get justice as he should be given the opportunity to use his due legal right in accordance with the democratic norms.
