The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) disconnected more than 1,800 illegal connections in Baldia Town on Tuesday.
An official of the gas utility claimed that a major raid was launched against the illegal use of gas in Muhammad Khan Colony after receiving credible information. The SSGC task force conducted the raid and disconnected non-metered connections obtaining gas through a rubber pipe network. About 83 million cubic feet of gas was being annually stolen, which translates to about Rs17 million per year.
The SSGC officials also moved an application, according to the gas theft law, at Saeedabad police station to register an FIR against the suspects.
