BPM schools producing skilled force: MD

OKARA: Baitul Mal Pakistan Managing Director Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh Wednesday said the BMP is running 160 schools in Punjab.

Addressing a ceremony where cheques and sewing machines were given to poor women at the TMA Jinnah Hall, he said expenditures of boarding and lodging in the schools are being borne by the BMP.

He said these schools are producing skilled force.

He visited Okara on the invitation of MNA Chaudhry Nadeem Abbas Rubera.

The MD said the BMP has established 36 Sweet Homes in the Punjab and one of them was working at Depalpur.

The poor women were given 50 cheques worth Rs 5,000 each and 100 sewing machines.

The MD and the MNA visited the DHQ hospital and the MD donated 25 wheelchairs to the hospital.

He told the hospital administration that the BMP medical help for patients would be quickened.

FARMERS’ SEMINAR HELD: EDO agriculture Dr Sher Muhammad Sherawat Wednesday said Pakistan is among the leading countries in terms of agriculture services and progress.

Addressing a farmers’ seminar, he said just in Punjab there were 5 million farmers and 65 per cent of them own less than five acres of land each.

He said the Agriculture University Faisalabad had innovated a special technology and had put it on its website www.kissandost.pk. He said in the first stage the website had been launched in Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Jhang, Layyah, and Okara.

The EDO said the website provides guidance to farmer regarding use of proportionate fertilizers and other inputs. He said the website updates the weather conditions for the next 5 days, every 3 hours.

Dr Muhammad Rashid, Principal Investigator of the project, advised farmers to contact the toll free phone No 0800-54726 to obtain guidance regarding any agriculture problem.

BANK ROBBERY: Sindh Bank manager Shakeel Abbas Jafri Wednesday told police that robbers took away Rs 3,252,548 from the bank after injuring the bank guard the previous day.

A-Division police had registered a case.
