Baloch students in Peshawar protest Quetta carnage
PESHAWAR: Condemning the attack on police training centre in Quetta, students from different departments of the University of Peshawar (UoP) belonging to Balochistan staged protest here on Wednesday.
The protesters gathered at Sher Shah Suri Road outside the Peshawar Press Club while holding placards inscribed with various slogans. The demonstrators were led by Umer Babar, president Balochistan Students (BS) UoP, and Fazal Amin, general secretary.
Talking to reporters, Babar said the Balochistan government had failed in maintaining peace in the province, adding that the province and particularly Quetta had become a security risk zone.
He recalled that in last August, a suicide bomber had targetted the lawyer community and the incident is still in people’s minds but the anti-state elements this time targetted the police training centre and killed 70 policemen. He said that they condemned the massacre and asked the government to give practical shape to National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism. They also appealed to CJP, chief of army staff and federal government to immediately arrest the killers behind the Quetta incident and award them severe punishment.
