PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has restored the appointment of Dr Qurratulain as associate professor in Gynea Department of Khyber Teaching Hospital and nullified the notification issued by the secretary health.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Muhammad Ishtiaq Ibrahim set aside the secretary health’s notification about appointment of Dr Farzana Nawaz as associate professor of Gynea Department of KTH. The bench directed the hospital director and Board of Governors, KTH, to restore Dr Qurratulain as associate professor within 15 days.
The bench passed the directions in a writ petition filed by Dr Qurratulain against her removal from the post and appointment of Dr Farzana Nawaz on her place. Khalid Rehman, lawyer for the petitioner, submitted that two posts of associate professors were advertised in the KTH.
He said the petitioner applied for both the posts as one was on regular basis and the second was on three-year contract. He said that one Dr Zubaida was appointed on the regular post of associate professor and the petitioner was appointed on the second post as there was no one in competition against her in the merit list.
