Lawyers associated with the Karachi Bar Association, Malir Bar Association and other bodies of advocates observed a complete strike on Wednesday in protest over Monday’s terror attack on a police academy in Quetta.
The lawyers’ bodies refrained from work on a call from the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) for a countrywide strike. Consequently, lawyers in Karachi did not appear for hearings and most cases were adjourned and under-trial prisoners were sent back to prisons. Judges, however, preferred to sit in their chambers to dispose of important legal matters.
