Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU)will keep open it libraries at its 44 regional offices all over the country seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily for general public in order to promote book reading habit.
We also welcome students from other institutes besides AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said this addressing a seminar held here Monday for capacity building of its librarians working at the regional centres.
He spoke about the important role of libraries in bridging knowledge gap and providing input to the students in doing research work at higher education level. The Allama Iqbal Open University is in a process of upgrading its libraries network through smart use of new technology.
The libraries have also been connected with HEC’s digital library. Meanwhile in a rare development the University has also arranged E-learning facility (Accessibility Canter) at its thirty eight regional offices to meet the needs of visually impaired students.
The rest of the regional offices were being equipped with the same facility. The students in these libraries will also have the facility to get internet scanned copy of the University’s text books and other study material.
