Prosperity linked to education, peace

LAHORE: The government should improve law and order and prioritise education to start the journey of prosperity in 2015.
These views were expressed by the speakers at Jang Economic Session on ‘how the youth hope peace and employment in 2015’ held on Tuesday. The speakers were Ch Abdul Khaliq and students from different varsities including Madhia Maqsood, Adil Bajwa and Abdul Basit. The session was hosted by Sikandar Lodhi.
Ch Abdul Khaliq said the youth were assets of Pakistan and they should not be disappointed with the country’s situation. He said role of the armed forces in the government functionaries could improve the situation in 2015. He said final combat against terrorism would produce positive results. He said Pakistan could start its journey for becoming Asian Tigers in 2015 by ending the current crisis. He suggested expansion of self-employment scheme and promotion of education and cottage industry side by side. He said everyone should contribute for a change in Pakistan.
Madhia Maqsood said orthodox policies and system should be abandoned to resolve economic and social issues while political leaderships should ensure continuity in policies. She said primary to MPhil students suffered due to closure of schools after the Peshawar incident. She said apparently all political forces got united after this tragedy and the implementation of national plan by all provincial governments and the federal government should be in a true sense.
Adil Bajwa said the ongoing terrorism wave affected economic activities, social life and education system. He said the country problems could not be resolved in one or two years rather good policies should continue. He said the youth should not be disappointed with crisis rather they should consider every crisis an opportunity to bounce back.
Abdul Basit said unemployment was growing due to law and order situation. He said foreign buyers were avoiding coming to Pakistan due to law and order situation which was affecting the trade and exports of the country. He called for discouraging extremism in society and providing employment and business opportunities for the youth.
