Approved to accommodate Sikh Yatrees
ETPB chairman says PM to lay foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak University in Nov
LAHORE: The Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) and Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) have approved Rs 4.58 million for preparations for the visiting Sikh Yatrees who would reach Pakistan from across the globe, including India, on the eve of birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak.
According to a press release issued here Friday, the meeting was chaired by PSGPC President Sardar Tara Singh. ETPB Chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq, Sardar Gopal Singh, Sardar Sahib Singh, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Sardar Mahinder Singh, Sardar Baba Amarjeet Singh and Imran Gondal participated in the meeting.
Later, talking to the media, the ETPB chairman said that thousands of Sikh Yatrees were coming to Pakistan in November to take part in the 548th birthday celebrations of founder of Sikh religion, Baba Guru Nanak.
He said the preparations by the ETPB regarding Yatrees’s security, food, residence and transportation had been completed. He said Rs 4.5 million had been approved for the purpose.
He also said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would lay foundation stone of the historic project, Baba Guru Nanak University, in Nankana Sahib in the third week of November. “We are finalising arrangements in this regard,” he added.
