KARACHI: Favourite Aqeel Khan, second seed Muhammad Abid, fourth seed Heera Ashiq and eighth seed Muzammil Murtaza moved into the semi-finals of the inaugural Chairman POF Board National Ranking Tennis Championships 2016 at Ordinance Club in Wah Cantt.
In the first quarter-final, Aqeel Khan outplayed sixth seed Ahmed, recording a straight-set 6-1, 6-2 triumph.
Heera Ashiq outplayed Barkatullah in straight sets, registering a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Muzammil Murtaza pulled off an impressive upset, beating third seed Shahzad Khan in a three-set encounter. Shahzad Khan won the first set at 6-3 but Muzammil came back strongly and won the second also 6-3. The match was decided in the final set in which Muzammil proved too good and took the set at 6-0 without conceding a single game.
Second seed Muhammad Abid thrashed Aman Atiq 6-2, 6-0. Abid will face Muzammil in the semi-finals.
