The rupee remained in a comfortable position on Wednesday and gained 44 paisas against the dollar on better supply, a dealer said.
The rupee closed at Rs100.46/dollar in the interbank market against the last closing of Rs100.90/dollar and was trading at Rs100.70/dollar in the open market.
Dealers said the supply position was good enough to meet the demand from importers.
Higher foreign exchange reserves had already lifted the market sentiment.
Analysts said the outlook on the external account and the rupee exchange rate has improved given the recent sharp fall in the international oil prices and expected realisation of the dollar inflows. The analysts said at least for the medium-term, the rupee exchange rate will remain stable.
