Argentina-Pakistan diplomatic ties marked
Islamabad
The Embassy of Argentina organised a flower offering ceremony at Argentina Park located adjacent to Polyclinic hospital.
The ceremony was organised with regard to the commemoration of 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Pakistan.
Ambassador of Argentina Ivan Ivanissevich together with Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Ansar Aziz and Additional Secretary Americas Dr. Asad Majeed Khan presented the flowers at the monument of Argentina Park which is a symbol of longstanding friendship between Argentina and Pakistan.
The formal ceremony started with the national anthems of both the countries just before the formal presentation of flowers at the monument. The event was marked by the presence of government authorities, ambassadors of various countries, heads of international organisations and people from other walks of life.
The Argentina Ambassador delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the event for Argentina. Referring to the excellent state of bilateral relations with Pakistan, he expressed that the geographical distance separating our two countries should not be regarded as an obstacle to the traditional friendship that unites Argentina and Pakistan. Argentina and Pakistan have always attached priority to mutual support within international organisations.
It also explains why we have shared so often - as from 1947 in fact - common understandings, particularly in matters which concerned securing a better future for our respective peoples. The Argentina Park is the best expression of such understandings, particularly within the United Nations, both at the UNGA and the SC levels. The Argentine people will always remain thankful to Pakistan for granting the privilege to have one of the few parks in Islamabad's city centre named after our country, he added.
The ambassador also mentioned that in the course of next year, during the monsoon season, the embassy would like to endow it with a few additional Argentine native trees, which will add further colour to the trees and plants already here. "We look forward to move forward on this initiative during the summer of 2017, with the full agreement of the CDA."
He highlighted the cultural events which are of immense importance in strengthening the bilateral ties between the countries. Considering this importance and specifically within the context of the celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, we are co-sponsoring a musical event on 24 October with Pakistani classical musicians, a painting exhibition of the well-known Argentine artist Gonzalo Sojo to be opened on 28 October, and another musical event with an Argentine guitarist and Pakistani musicians to be held next November.
