Inspector booked for torturing man

FAISALABAD: On the orders of Additional Sessions Judge Maqsood Ahmad, police have booked Inspector Amer Khan, the former Ghulam Muhammadabad SHO, on the charge of torturing a man in the police station.
In a petition, Rana Shahzad said that he had gone to the police station in a case. He alleged that the inspector tortured him when he refused to give him bribe.
SIX COPS DEMOTED: CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar has demoted six police officials and sacked four others on different charges.
Sub-Inspector Shoaib Ahmad has been demoted to the rank of ASI for releasing some dacoits while ASI Muhammad Sarwar has been demoted to the rank of head constable. SI Ahmad Faisal has been demoted to the rank of ASI and ASI Waris Ali to the rank of head constable. Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad has been demoted to the rank of sub-inspector. The four policemen, who were sacked, are Tariq, Waqar Ali, Abdul Qayyum and Muhammad Zafar.
Two brothers convicted in murder case

FAISALABAD: Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Yaqoob on Monday convicted two brothers in a murder case.
The judge awarded death sentence to Nadeem Ahmad and life imprisonment to his brother Tanvir Ahmad. The court, however, acquitted their mother Shamim Bibi, giving her the benefit of the doubt. According to the prosecution, the convicts had gunned down their aunt Zubaida Bibi over a domestic dispute at Ghausia Colony in 2012.
